Alan Chaffey is a qualified teacher and holds the national qualification for headship and a master's degree in education. Alan has considerable leadership experience, including headship of two primary schools, both of which he led to outstanding. Alan has also worked as a school improvement partner for a local authority. Although now retired from headship, Alan regularly leads school inspections.
Set up a manufacturing company in Hull, in a similar business to one he was general manager of (conveyor belts) This business was successful, eventually retired.
Interests include volunteer work as an assessment officer and business mentor for the Prince’s Trust.
Another interest is the managing of the Withernsea Lighthouse, which operates as a tourist attraction and museum. The Lighthouse is owned by a charitable trust, and Tony is a part time paid employee of the Trust.
Dr Brian Wells
With a BSC(Hons) Pharmacy degree from Manchester University and following initial pharmacy management jobs, Brian established his own community pharmacy in , East Yorkshire supplying pharmaceuticals to local offshore installations. This work led him to undertake a research project through Bradford University into all pharmaceutical aspects of offshore health care (including a detailed study of relevant legislation) which resulted in a PhD.
He has also served on pharmaceutical bodies, including being Chair of the Yorkshire Regional Committee of the Royal Pharmaceutical.
In 2013, he was designated a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society for distinction in the profession of Pharmacy.
Richard was a career Civil Servant in the Department of Work and Pensions, entering the service as a clerk at age 17, and working his way up to a Senior Executive Officer (Operations Manager) on retirement in 2010.
Richard is a trustee of a Family Trust managing properties in the private rental sector. He is also a trustee of Kirk Ella Parish Relief in Need Charity and treasurer of Kirk Ella Parish’s Mill Lane Cemetery. He has served as a School Governor for the last 7 years.
Richard is also a trustee of Horizon Academy Trust and will provide the link between the members of the trust and the trustees.
Rachel has been a teacher for 28 years and a Headteacher for 13. Having worked in seven different schools in five different local authorities, she has a wealth of educational experience and expertise. She has a passion for school improvement and has demonstrated significant impact on teaching and learning standards in all three of her substantive Headship roles as well as providing substantial support for other schools to raise their standards and achieve good ratings in Inspections. She has a particular aptitude for increasing capacity in middle leadership and curriculum enhancement.
